Mobile Device Detection in Oracle APEX

I was reading Peter Raganitsch blog regarding mobile theme in APEX, nice stuff.

Now, would it be nicer that your existing APEX app works just like wordpress, PC theme for normal PC and mobile theme for mobile device.

A quick google search give me this piece of jQuery code for mobile device detection.

The idea is adding this detection code to your existing APEX login page, and when a mobile user access the regular login page, it will redirect the user to the APEX mobile app, which is under a different APP_ID.

So, this is what we need to do. In the existing APEX login page add these.

Execute when Page Loads

window.location = "/apex/f?p=108"
}

I assumed your mobile APEX app ID is 108, you should replace it with your own APP_ID.

That is all, try accessing your APEX app login page with PC and your smartphone, you will see the difference 🙂
